Detectives to Canvass Oxon Hill Community in Homicide Investigation


This afternoon, Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives plan to canvass an Oxon Hill community where a man was shot on Wednesday. The victim is 41-year-old Derrick Jermaine McCray. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random shooting. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.-

On January 27, 2016, at about 6:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5600 block of St. Barnabas Road for a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. He died several hours later at a hospital.

Investigators are working to identify the suspect(s) and the motive in this fatal shooting. This afternoon, detectives will pass out Crime Solvers flyers seeking information in this case. The canvass is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm in the 5500 block of Rosecroft Village Drive.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Bowie

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Bowie. The victim is 49-year-old Cynthia Forrest of Blaine Street in Northeast Washington.

On January 27, 2016, at about 1:35 pm, patrol officers were called to East Ballpark Road at Ballpark Road for a collision.

The preliminary investigation reveals Forrest was traveling eastbound on East Ballpark Road toward Ballpark Road. Forrest’s SUV collided with the vehicle in front of her at the intersection. Forrest died several hours after the collision.

PGPD Searches for Driver Involved in Hit-and-Run Involving Pedestrian

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered potentially life-threatening injuries. The collision caused the striking SUV’s right side view mirror to break off at the scene. Investigators hope releasing this clue will help community members potentially recognize the striking SUV and come forward to help close the case.

On January 27, 2016, at about 8:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 7600 block of Annapolis Road in West Lanham Hills for the report of a hit-and-run.

Preliminarily, it appears the striking SUV was heading eastbound on Annapolis Road when it struck the victim who was walking in the roadway. The driver did not stop. The SUV is described as a 2003-2005 silver Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator. It is now missing its right side view mirror.

PGPD Investigates Weather-Related Death


The Prince George's County Police Department is investigating a weather-related death in Hyattsville. The 84-year-old woman was found deceased after wandering from her home. 

On January 25, 2016, at about 8:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 7200 block of Windsor Lane for the report of a missing person. According to her family, Orinda Nelson suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and had wandered away from home more than a dozen times in the past. Patrol officers and detectives searched for Ms. Nelson in her home, in her neighborhood and at nearby businesses where she had been discovered before. A bloodhound was also used in the search.

On Tuesday, a resident in the neighborhood discovered Ms. Nelson in the resident's backyard. She was pronounced dead at a hospital. An autopsy ruled the cause of death to be dementia complicated by hypothermia.

On Monday morning, a man was found deceased in a parking lot in the 6300 block of Livingston Road. A snow removal crew had discovered the decedent while they were clearing the snow in the lot. On Saturday, a Fort Washington man died after shoveling snow outside of his home.

Detectives to Canvass Strip Mall in Shooting Investigation


Robbery Unit detectives plan to canvass a Suitland strip mall this evening as they search for the suspects who shot an employee during a robbery. That victim has life-threatening injuries.

On January 22, 2016, shortly after 5:00 pm, patrol officers were called to a market in the 4700 block of Suitland Road for the report of an armed robbery. The preliminary investigation reveals two suspects came into the store with handguns. During the course of the robbery, the suspects shot a store employee. The suspects then ran from the store.

#SnowSuspect Linked to 5 Robberies


Our first suspect this week is a man who robbed five businesses during the massive snowstorm last weekend. He targeted the first business at 8:45 pm on Jan 22nd, a second business on the 23rd and then three businesses on January 24th. The suspect is a white man about 5’11 and 140 pounds. Theft Suspect

The suspect in this photo is wanted in connection with a theft at a construction supply store in Beltsville. The theft occurred on January 4th at about 11:45 am at the store on Edmonston Road. Cell Phone Store Theft


Detectives are also working to find and arrest this suspect. He commited a theft at a cell phone store in the 15000 block of Crain Highway in Brandywine on January 15th. The investigation reveals he stole several phones and other items. He wore a distinguishable sweatshirt with “New York” written on the back. PGPD Investigates Two Possible Weather-Related Deaths

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating two possible weather-related deaths. 

On January 23, 2016, at about 9:00 am, patrol officers responded to the 1200 block of Sandy Bar Drive in Fort Washington for the report of a possible weather-related death. The decedent is 60-year-old George Campbell. The decedent collapsed after shoveling snow outside of his home. There were no signs of foul play.

On January 25, 2016, at about 7:54 am, patrol officers responded to a parking lot in the 6300 block of Livingston Road for the report of a possible weather-related death. A snow removal crew had discovered the decedent while they were clearing the lot. He was pronounced dead on scene. The preliminary investigation reveals no signs of foul play. The decedent's name is unknown at this time. 

Suspect in Custody in Lanham Homicide


The Prince George’s County Police Department's Homicide Unit has charged a suspect in connection with Friday's homicide in Lanham.  The suspect is 24-year-old Gregorio Davidson of the 7000 block of Highview Terrace in Hyattsville. The victim is 27-year-old Kendal Joseph of Lewisdale Drive in Hyattsville.

On January 22, 2016, at about 4:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 4900 block of Whitfield Chapel Road for the report of an assault. When they arrived, patrol officers found Joseph suffering from stab wounds. He died a short time later at a hospital. 

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim and suspect got into an argument that escalated into the fatal stabbing. The suspect and two other victims were also injured during the altercation. The two victims suffered what appear to be non-life threatening injuries. 

Davidson remains hospitalized. He's in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status. Davidson is charged with first and second degree murder, first degree assault and related charges.

Armed Robbery Suspects

These two suspects are wanted for robbing a man in Capitol Heights. The man had been walking in the area of Balsamtree Drive and K Street last Thursday around 4:00 pm. The suspects approached the victim and demanded his property. One of the suspects had a gun. The victim wasn’t hurt. If you know where we can find these suspects, call 301-772-4425 or 1-866-411-TIPS. Convenience Store Theft

Detectives released these surveillance pictures of the three suspects linked to a theft at a convenience store. The suspects targeted the store in the 3400 block of Dallas Drive in Temple Hills on January 16th at about 3:00 am. They stole more than $1,000 dollars’ worth of items from the business. Market Breaking & Entering

A cash reward is being offered for information that helps detectives arrest the suspects in these photos who broke into a market in College Park. The business is in the 5000 block of Edgewood Road. Pizza Restaurant Robbery

Our Robbery Unit is working to identify and arrest the two suspects who robbed a pizza restaurant in the 5300 block of Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill. The victim is 29-year-old Franklin Latour Young Jr. of West Village Avenue in Camp Springs. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random shooting. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On January 19, 2016, at about 9:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4300 block of West Village Avenue for a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim inside of his apartment suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Crash in Forestville

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash this morning in Forestville. The victim is 37-year-old Ghada Seifel-Din Ahmed of Brown Wood Road in Upper Marlboro. Investigators are searching for a trash truck that was involved in this crash.

On January 19, 2016, at about 7:15 am, patrol officers were called to Pennsylvania Avenue and Interstate 495 for a crash. When they arrived, the officers found Ahmed suffering from critical injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals Ahmed had just exited southbound I-495 onto Pennsylvania Avenue. It appears Ahmed’s pickup truck made contact with a trash truck on Pennsylvania Avenue, causing her to lose control and strike a pole. Because of the size difference in the vehicles, investigators now believe it’s possible the trash truck’s driver may not have known the truck was involved in a collision. Anyone who witnessed this fatal crash is asked to call investigators.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Crash in Capitol Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Capitol Heights. The victim is 45-year-old Gregory Antoine Hall of Leroy Gorham Drive in Capitol Heights.

On January 18, 2016, at about 2:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 8700 block of Walker Mill Road for the report of a crash involving three vehicles. 

The preliminarily investigation reveals an SUV was heading eastbound on Walker Mill Road. Hall was heading westbound on Walker Mill Road. For reasons which are under investigation, the SUV crossed the centerlines and struck Hall's car head on. The SUV then sideswiped a third vehicle. Hall was the sole occupant of his car. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the SUV and the driver of the third vehicle both remained on scene.

Investigators are looking into whether alcohol and speed were factors in this crash.

PGPD Arrests Man in Murder of Six-Month-Old Baby


The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a man in connection with the homicide of a baby girl. The suspect is 23-year-old Kareem Bryant of the 1400 block of 18th Street in Southeast Washington. The victim is six-month-old Mariah Tilghman of 75th Avenue in Landover.

On January 6th, 2016, at about 3:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 3200 block of 75th Avenue for the report of a baby who wasn’t breathing. The infant was rushed to a hospital. She died on January 9th.  An autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force injuries to the baby’s head and chest. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Bryant has admitted to causing the baby’s injuries. Bryant and the victim’s mother were in a relationship. He is charged with second degree murder and first degree child abuse resulting in death. He was arrested yesterday in the District of Columbia. He is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.

Detectives Arrest Suspect in Domestic-Related Homicide Along Hyattsville Trail


The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide on New Year’s Day along a trail in Hyattsville. The suspect is 18-year-old Marvin Vazquez-Juarez of no fixed address.

On January 1, 2016, at about 7:20 am, patrol officers with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police Department and the Prince George's County Police Department were called to the Northwest Branch Trail in the 6100 block of Ager Road for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found the victim, 20-year-old Catherine Alvarado, suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead on the scene. 

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed Vazquez-Juarez as the suspect. He and the victim had previously been in a relationship. He is charged with first and second degree murder. He’s in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

Cell Phone Store Armed Robbery


The four suspects who robbed a cell phone store in Brandywine top our Wanted Wednesday list this week. The four men targeted a store in the 15000 block of Crain Highway on Monday around 8:00 pm. One of the suspects had a gun. The suspects stole several items and then ran out. No one was hurt. Bank Robbery Suspect


Robbery Unit detectives are working to find and arrest the man who robbed a bank in the 10000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Highway in Bowie. This happened last Saturday at about 9:30 am. Please call 301-772-4905 with any information. 

Suspect Linked to Two Burglaries

Detectives believe the same suspect, who wore a red jacket, is responsible for two separate burglaries in College Park in the last week. On January 8th, the suspect targeted a store in the 7000 block of Baltimore Avenue. The day earlier, detectives believe the same man burglarized a business in the 8000 block of Baltimore Avenue.

Theft from Auto Investigation

Detectives Investigate Non-Fatal Shooting at Temple Hills Home

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a non-fatal shooting at a Temple Hills home early this morning. The preliminary investigation reveals a homeowner shot a man who was trying to break into his home.

On January 13, 2016, at about 1:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 3900 block of Brinkley Road for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the suspect with gunshot wounds to his legs. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Preliminarily, his injuries are not considered life threatening.

The preliminary investigation reveals the two residents were alerted by the family’s dog to a noise at the front door. The residents discovered the suspect was outside and appeared to be trying to get inside. The suspect had already pried open their storm door. One of the residents called 911; the second resident got a weapon and shot the suspect through the front door.

Preliminarily, there is no known connection between the victims and the suspect. Detectives will consult with the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine what charges will be filed against the suspect.
