Critical New Details Released on Child Sexual Assault Suspect

Prince George’s County Police detectives today released critical details on the suspect wanted for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in her apartment building last week in Forestville. The suspect has a tattoo of the word “blessed” on his neck as well as a tattoo of a star on each shoulder, all believed to be in black ink. He also has a birthmark or scar on his face. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in the case.

This additional information came to light after the victim’s mother spotted the suspect near the apartment building in the 2100 block of Brooks Drive around 1:00 pm on Friday. The mother lunged at the suspect and forced him to the ground. The suspect was able to get away despite our police officers’ quick response to the scene and the efforts of both a K9 and a US Park Police helicopter. We’re thankful the mother wasn’t hurt. The Prince George’s County Police Department does not encourage anyone to engage suspects on their own.

The suspect sexually assaulted the 12-year-old victim last Wednesday morning in an apartment building hallway. The investigation reveals the suspect followed the girl onto an elevator. When the girl got off the elevator, the suspect forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

Detectives released surveillance video of the suspect Wednesday evening. He’s a black male, 18 to 23 years old, about 5’2” – 5’6”, with shoulder-length dreadlocks and several tattoos, including one on his left forearm. He wore a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a red baseball cap the day of the sexual assault and a white tank top on Friday when he was spotted.
