PGPD Arrests Suspect in Forest Heights Murder

The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide in Forest Heights.  The victim is 42-year-old Yves Edendeng of Edenville Drive in District Heights.  The suspect is 40-year-old Nysani Norman Oates of the 1300 block of Edenville Drive in District Heights.

On December 5, 2014, at about 6:45 pm, patrol officers were called to the 500 block of Cree Drive after a resident called 911 to report hearing a man calling for help outside. When they arrived, they found Edendeng suffering from multiple stab wounds.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

During the course of the investigation, Oates was developed as a suspect.  The preliminary investigation reveals Oates was renting a room from Edendeng.  For reasons which remain unclear, an argument occurred between the two as they were in Edendeng’s car.  During the argument, Oates stabbed Edendeng multiple times.  Edendeng was able to get out of the car and then began yelling for help.
