PGPD Investigates Domestic–Related Murder/Suicide in Temple Hills

Updated March 13, 2014: The two decedents are identified as 72-year-old Virginia Velasco and 72-year-old Armando Velasco, both of the 5500 block of Winston Street in Temple Hills.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a domestic-related murder/suicide in Temple Hills.

On March 12, 2014, at about 2:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5500 block of Winston Street for a welfare check. When they arrived, they discovered an elderly man and woman in the home, each suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. They were pronounced dead on the scene. The couple was married.

The preliminary investigation suggests the man shot and killed his wife, then took his own life. A gun was recovered on the scene.

Detectives are working to establish a timeline and motive in this case.
