PGPD Arrests Suspect in Chapel Oaks Shooting


The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a suspect in the shooting of a 16 year-old in Chapel Oaks.  The suspect is identified as 17 year-old Derrick Anthony Wills of the 1200 block of Eastern Avenue in Northeast Washington.

On December 4, 2012, at approximately 3:30 pm, police officers responded to the 1200 block of Nye Street for a shooting.  Upon arrival,  police officers found the teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm.  The investigation reveals Wills approached the victim on foot and demanded his cell phone.  The victim refused and was then shot in the arm.   He has since been released from the hospital. 

On December 6, 2012, investigative leads led detectives to 50th and Nash Streets in Northeast, Washington.   Police officers found Wills with the victim's cell phone.  The gun used in the crime was also recovered.  Wills is being charged as an adult.  He faces attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, theft and armed robbery.  He is being held on a no bond status.
